The Union Culture Ministry is taking steps to strengthen National School of Drama (NSD). It include redevelopment of NSD Campus at Bahawalpur House, New Delhi and setting up of five Regional Centres of NSD – at Bengaluru, Kolkata, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra/Goa and in the North East. The Bengaluru Centre of NSD has already started functioning from February, 2009.

Under the Eleventh Five Year Plan, an amount of Rs. 8000 lakhs was allocated for NSD for the entire Plan period.
