D Jayakanthan

D Jayakanthan is a noted Tamil fiction writer. He was born in 1934 in Dakshina Arcot district of Tamil Nadu. A school dropout,а Jayakanthan studied only formally upto 3rd standard and after that he left school. His father married to another woman and so the relationship of him with his father was very bad.а His childhood spent by listening the discussion of communist ideology andа so it made a great impact on his life as well as writings. During these period he came in the contact of famous political leaders of CPI like Jeeva Jeevanandam. But later due to several reasons his connection with CPI broke. Later he become influenced with Kamraj also. His whole life spent in struggle. He worked in a shoe store, he sold newspaper. So his writing also reflecting the struggles but humanity is the major theme of his whole writings.

He has several short story book. He also made one film that got national award for regional fiml category.

In 2002 he was awarded with Jnanpith Award, highest literary award of India.а He got Padma Bhushan in 2009. He selected Fellow of Sahitya Akademi in 1996. The works of Jayakanthan delicately unveils every depths of human emotions and equations.
