Ravindra Kelekar
Ravindra Kelekar was born on March 7th, 1925 in Cuncolim in South Goa. Kelekar played a key role in the establishment of the Konkani Bhasha Mandal and is perhaps the single most important player in building the literary culture in Konkani. Some of his important creations include ‘Amchi Bhas Konkaneech’; ‘Shalent Konkani Kityak’; ‘Bahu-bhashik Bharatant Bhashenche Samajshastra’ and ‘Himalayant’. Kelekar has won many prestigious awards including the Sahitya Akademi Award, Sauhard Samman and Goa Kala Academy’s literary award. He got 42nd Jnapitha Award. He had been awrded with Padma Bhushan, Sahitya Akademi Award, and the Fellowship of Sahitya Akademi.
His had wrote a lots of books in Konkani. Navi Shala, Himalayant, Mahatma, Ashe Ashille Gandhiji,Satyagrah, Mangal Prabhat, Katha ani Kanyo, Bhaja Govindam, Uzvadeche Sur, Tulshi, Velevoilio Ghulo, Bhashechem Samaj Shashtra, Teen eke Teen, Mukti, Lala Bala, Brahmandantlem Tandav, Panthastha, Samidha, Vothambe, Sarjakachi Antar Katha are important books written by him. He also translated Mahabharat in Konkani. He has dedicated his whole life for Konkani language and literature. He has written more than 100 books in Konkani language. He edited ‘Jaag’ magazine for more than 20 years.
